Nils Hotel in Kalix, Sweden
Intelligent hotel solution enables operation without employees for the first time
Built in 2010, the Nils Hotel is located in the northern Swedish city of Kalix, which has a population of 7,300. The 11-room hotel is close to the Finnish border. Thanks to an innovative remote building management solution developed by prefabricated bathroom manufacturer PartAB, it manages to operate without a reception desk or even employees.
To implement its solution, PartAB needed a hotel solution that would ensure guests can enjoy greater comfort as well as maximum fire safety and security such as break-ins and theft. These solutions were to be integrated with the internet booking system in a central server.
Siemens installed a Desigo building automation and control system in the hotel and a Desigo Insight management station at PartAB’s factory in Kalix. Via the internet, authorized personnel from PartAB can remotely access and operate the Desigo building automation and control system regardless of time or location. A Sinteso fire detection system with access control and intrusion detection systems, intelligently integrated in a single building management system, ensures maximum safety and security.
The intelligent hotel solution is a win-win situation for both guests and hotel owners. Reservations, check-ins and payment processes can be made easily and safely via the internet. A small team from PartAB is sufficient to efficiently run the hotel and all systems. The savings on installation, operating and maintenance costs throughout the life cycle of the building are significant.
