Lake Travis ISD Engineering Institute

In the spring of 2006, the Building Education program partnered with the Association of Career and Technical Education (ACTE) and Lake Travis ISD to open an Engineering Academy outside of Austin, Texas. The partnership helped launch Lake Travis High School’s Institute of Math, Engineering & Architecture into an integrated, cohort-based academy that not only provides a comprehensive academic curriculum but also partners each student with the professional community. 

The Building Education program awarded a 3-year, $150,000 grant to develop the Engineering Institute using the Project Lead the Way core curriculum. Siemens has engaged the ACTE to guide the school through the transition into an academy model.
