Biocontainment

Meeting the national biosafety challenge

The construction of biocontainment facilities is growing exponentially due to the influx of federal spending on biodefense and the study of emerging  infectious diseases. In order to achieve the scientific goal of vaccines and therapeutic solutions, these facilities must be built with safety and quality as the primary objective. The Building Automation System (BAS) plays a vital role in meeting this objective. Due to stringent biosafety and community issues not typically faced by normal commercial installations, quality assurance is required in all phases of facility design, installation, commissioning and ongoing operations.
