Buffalo Grove, IL, Thursday, April 22, 2010

Stevenson High School (SHS) Community Foundation’s mission is to connect community and school. The SHS Community Foundation delivers a number of programs and initiatives to forward their school and community outreach agenda. To commemorate Earth Day and support the SHS Community Foundation’s Green Initiative, Siemens Industry, Inc. recently presented the Foundation with a $2,000 grant—to help fund its programs that are promoting the three R’s of sustainability: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle to students, parents, faculty and the community.

“We are thrilled to be receiving this grant from Siemens,” said SHS Community Foundation executive director, Gregory Diethrich. “It will be money well spent and we plan to use it primarily to fund the completion of the green roof project we have started at Stevenson High School.

”Siemens has a long relationship with Stevenson High School and continues its leadership in the area of delivering energy efficiency to schools across the Chicago Metropolitan area. Its community outreach takes many forms and is characterized by contributions that support the advancement of sustainability curricula at schools and universities across the U.S.
