Siemens Continues its Support of Electrical Product Industry Anti-Counterfeiting Initiative
NORCROSS, GA., Wednesday, December 08, 2010
Counterfeiting is a significant problem for consumers and businesses. Counterfeit circuit breakers pose serious safety and business issues beyond the economic impact and can put lives at risk. That's why Siemens Industry, Inc. continues to support and sponsor the Anti Counterfeit Products Initiative.
Fake electrical products, including circuit breakers, can explode, ignite fires and fail catastrophically—all of which can lead to injury or even death. When unscrupulous manufacturers counterfeit parts safety standards are often ignored and no warranties or guarantees back them up.
“We want to send a clear, unequivocal message to our residential and industrial markets: Siemens is serious about circuit breaker safety,” said Kevin Yates, vice president, Siemens Industry, Inc. Low-Voltage Business Unit. “We will continue our support and stand with other manufacturers as well as NAED, NECA, NEMA and UL to fight counterfeiting and help elevate awareness of the impact that counterfeit products can have on people’s lives and property.”
Counterfeits can damage the integrity of any business. Buying or distributing fake products, even inadvertently, can ruin the reputation of the most reputable business and can leave it vulnerable to legal action. To be certain that products are authentic, distributors and installers should purchase directly from Siemens or from a Siemens-authorized distributor.Anyone that suspects a Siemens product is counterfeit should contact us at 1-800-964-4114 or send an e-mail to: realbreakers.industry@siemens.com
