Siemens version 3.0 field panels receive BACnet testing laboratories listing
BUFFALO GROVE, IL, Tuesday, April 25, 2006
Siemens Building Technologies, Inc., announced today that its APOGEE® Building Automation System field panels (Version 3.0) recently received BACnet Testing Laboratories (BTL) listing.
BACnet Testing Laboratories, which is part of the BACnet International (BI), offers a product testing and listing program to confirm BACnet® compatibility. The BTL's authorized test laboratories test the BACnet functionality of a product to a set of strict requirements developed based on ASHRAE Standard 135.1P.
Siemens technology is based on a truly open architecture, one that has allowed it to support BACnet data communications protocols in a networked controls setting for many years. “The BTL listing of our field panel firmware demonstrates our ongoing commitment to support BACnet interoperability throughout our product line,” said Kevin Osburn, vice president, Product Development. “At the core of all our offerings is the inherent ability to tightly integrate and communicate with both legacy and open protocols.”
Providing comprehensive BACnet functionality and interoperability, APOGEE Field Panels with BTL-listed Firmware Version 3.0 are now available for order. The Firmware Version 3.0 is also available as a migration option for previously installed APOGEE field panels.
Promulgated in 1987, BACnet was developed specifically for building automation and control networks. BACnet International encourages the successful use of BACnet in building automation and control systems through interoperability testing, educational programs and other promotional activities. BACnet International members include manufacturers, customers, consulting engineers, and suppliers involved in the design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning and maintenance of control equipment that use the BACnet communications protocol.
