Dow Chemical Europe, Horgen, Switzerland
A new laboratory solution for chemicals giant
Based in Midland, Michigan in the U.S., the Dow Chemical Company is one of the largest chemical companies in the world. The multinational corporation’s European headquarters are in Horgen, near Zurich, Switzerland. Dow is a world leader in research and technology for chemicals, plastics, and agricultural products.
The Dow Chemical site in Horgen was looking for a reliable laboratory solution which could be integrated within the Desigo building automation and control system already in place there. The technical facilities were required to protect lab personnel against potential hazards while also maintaining a comfortable building climate.
Siemens implemented a laboratory solution featuring a complete and comprehensive building automation system based on Desigo. The solution includes components for controlling and monitoring the laboratory fume hoods, controlling the laboratory rooms, controlling and regulating the primary systems as well as providing comprehensive visualization in the Desigo building automation and control system. The laboratory solution ensures safety and comfort while at the same time keeping the building’s energy consumption low. The fume hood solution meets the requirements of the EN 14175 standard.
The lab solution stands out for its outstanding user-friendliness, reliability, expandability, and flexibility and increases the level of safety for personnel. The laboratory solution is based on the Desigo concept and was fully integrate within the existing Desigo building automation and control system. All components were supplied to Dow Europe by a single vendor.
The laboratory solution fully complies with EN 14175/SN EN 14175
Enhanced safety thanks to dynamic volumetric flow control
