New Motion Detector Family Cuts Installation Time in Half

Zug / Switzerland, Friday, October 09, 2009

Intrunet E-Line

Whether in warehouses, offices or residences – the need for security rises continuously. The Siemens Division Building Technologies responds to this trend with a new family of motion detectors: Intrunet E-Line answers not only common security questions; this product line also meets installer requirements to a high degree. End-of-Line (EoL) circuit boards, unrivaled in the market to date, make manual wiring of resistors superfluous. The massively shortened installation time influences installation costs positively. The detectors are appropriate for all applications representing small to mid-range risks in normal to harsh environments. Their detection range of 6 to 18 meters and high precision are convincing, and they also simplify logistics.

The product line unites proven features of the existing Intrunet family, such as the snap-open/snap-close housing cover developed by Siemens. The Intrunet E-Line motion detectors strike a new installation path: the EoL concept patented by Siemens measurably shortens the installation time. Installers now have the possibility of using EoL circuit boards (PCBs) in place of traditional resistors. Every EoL PCB provides a sequence of resistance values for the most common control panels that are combined via DIP switches. Manually wired resistors are thereby superfluous. What remains is the usual wiring of the detector with power and signaling cables. Compared with conventional procedure, installation is significantly faster, simpler and less error-prone. Field tests with external installers and internal experts have shown that the installation time including troubleshooting can be reduced by more than 50 percent.
