Five Stars for Hotel Solution

The Kempinski Palace Portorož luxury hotel relies on the latest technology

An integrated Hotel Solution from Siemens in Slovenia’s first five-star hotel forms the basis for optimum use of energy and staff, with thoroughly satisfied guests.

Kempinski Palace Portorož luxury hotel

One of the most beautiful hotels in Slovenia, the Kempinski Palace Portorož in the picturesque coastal town of Piran, was reopened in October 2008 after extensive renovations. Building management was designed to provide a combination of efficient, economical energy use, the highest possible level of security, and extreme comfort. The Hotel Solution system from Siemens impressed the owners, who ordered a fully integrated solution for functions ranging from room automation to personnel management.

The intelligent room automation in the Hotel Solution creates ideal room atmospheres throughout the Kempinski hotel and offers superb management overview and outstanding ease of operation. The flexible building management system, comprising Desigo PX and Desigo Insight, integrates the Kempinski hotel’s two heating systems, the fan coil units, the power supply, and the hotel’s other systems, such as heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning (HVAC) and EIB (European Installation Bus) lighting. In the Hotel Solution, access to guest rooms is ensured by multipurpose key cards. HVAC is controlled automatically depending on the occupancy status of the room, thus optimizing energy use. The room control units in the Hotel Solution communicate with the central control unit in the reception area via a system bus.
