Guaranteed savings thanks to Energy Saving Performance Contracting

Two-phase program of HVAC system and building envelope upgrades

Energy Saving Performance Contracting helped Waterbury Hospital in Connecticut significantly reduce energy bills and operating costs.

Most of Waterbury Hospital's HVAC systems were installed in the 1970s and past their intended service lives. In order to reduce operating costs, Energy Saving Performance Contracting was the best and most viable short-term solution. Due to the implementation of such a Contract, the energy-saving upgrades are financed by the energy savings the upgrades are guaranteed to produce.

Improved HVAC system

In August 2006 a two-phase program of HVAC system and building envelope upgrades was agreed which would see the Waterbury hospital’s outmoded energy-intensive systems replaced with the latest and most efficient technologies as part of the Energy Saving Performance Contract.  Thanks to the implemented improvement measures, energy costs of more than USD 10 million annually could be avoided over the 10-year life of the performance based contract.
