When Art meets Science with intelligent Technology
Unique museum uses the most advanced building automation, safety and security solutions
The Ars Electronica Center in Linz (Austria) is the high-tech museum of life sciences. The HVAC technology, building automation, DALI lighting controllers and the fire protection and safety technology are all provided by Siemens.
The refurbished and expanded Ars Electronica Center was reopened last year. Siemens was commissioned to expand and modernize the HVAC technology as well as the fire protection, control and safety technology for the center. Comfort in the building is assured by around 1200 data points for the HVAC technology. Intelligent control is assured by 13 controllers, and switching to a central operator station provides the highest possible degree of system flexibility. The air conditioning system includes 120 floor convectors and around 110 fan coils.
HVAC technology and DALI lighting controllers
The lights in the high-tech museum can be switched on and off by means of 160 lighting circuits. A scenario-based lighting control system in the Futurelab is also regulated using DALI lighting controllers. More than 650 fire detectors integrated in the Sigmasys-M fire detection system are responsible for fire protection and prevention. Siemens also designed and installed a video system and a Variodyn D1 electrical sound system with 150 loudspeakers.
