Internet PoP Hannover GmbH, one of Germany’s leading Internet providers, needed a new data center for up to 5,000 Internet servers. The organization was looking for a partner for an integrated fire safety and security concept that would provide optimal and sustainable protection to its highly sensitive server rooms in the data center. Siemens offered a tailored and reliable fire safety solution for the entire building life cycle. The combination of earliest possible fire detection, alarming, and automated extinguishing, the integration of security systems such as intrusion detection and access control systems as well as a comprehensive service package all resulted in a fully integrated safety concept for Internet PoP Hannover GmbH.
To ensure reliable and fast extinguishing, a Sinorix extinguishing solution with natural extinguishing agents was installed in the data center. Natural extinguishing agents, such as nitrogen or argon, reduce oxygen in the air. Because no reactive products result when the extinguishing agents come into contact with the fire, damage to equipment and servers is avoided.
